SUPREME ACCC Cables (Aluminium Conductor Composite Core / Trapezoidal Wire) Smart Conductor is patented Cables with specifications superior to existing conductors in a number of key performance areas, including:

  • Up to double the current carrying capacity of ACSR
  • Substantially reduces high temperature sag,
  • Requires fewer structures for new line construction
  • Increases capacity of existing rights of way and structures through retrofitting
  • Eliminates bimetallic corrosion
  • Significantly reduces line losses compared to same diameter conventional and composite conductors at equal operating temperatures
  • It is lighter. The weight saved can be used for more aluminum conductor. ACCC conductor uses trapezoidal strands to fit more aluminum into the same conductor diameter.
  • Softer, the conductor is using fully annealed aluminum. ACSR conductor uses stronger non-annealed commercially pure aluminum which contributes to the cable’s tensile strength and improves sag and pull-out under ice load, but has about 3% less electrical conductivity and limits the maximum operating temperature.
  • It has a much lower coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) (1.6 ppm/°C) than ACSR (11.6 ppm/°C). This lets the conductor be operated at a significantly higher temperature without excessive sag between poles.
